Tarheel Safe & Lock, Inc. is a family-owned and operated local business licensed by the state of North Carolina, fully bonded, and insured to provide full-line security services. For over thirty years, we have been providing top-quality security solutions to our clients in Rowan County, as well as Cabarrus, Iredell, Davidson, and Stanly counties, and the surrounding states of South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Our Team

Steve Stroud, a Marine Corps veteran, started Tarheel Safe & Lock, Inc. in 1989 and incorporated the business in 2002. His oldest son, Brad Stroud, began working with him during school breaks and joined the company full-time in 2005. Andrew Stroud, Steve's youngest son, came on board in 2008 after serving in the US Army in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Steve Stroud, the owner, has been in law enforcement for 48 years. Prior to starting Tarheel Safe & Lock, Inc., he worked 13 years in corporate security for a large grocery chain, where he was responsible for the physical security of all corporate assets. During this time, he found an opportunity to start his own business after dealing with locksmiths all over the southeast.

Andrew Stroud, our sales representative, served in Iraq and found out he wouldn't be able to re-enlist due to hearing damage. The job market being what it is, his dad offered him an opportunity to come work with him and his brother.

Teresa Stroud, Steve's wife, manages the office and oversees over 150 subcontracted locksmiths. She joined the business as it grew rapidly, ensuring our operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Tommy Fields, our locksmith technician, worked for one of our contractors in Virginia and handled our needs there. He and his wife wanted to move to the Lake Norman area, and we brought Tommy on to our team in January 2020. He has definitely been an asset to our team.

Brad Stroud, our locksmith technician, enjoyed working with his dad in Locksmithing and the company he worked for was laying off hundreds of employees. He saw an opportunity to join his dad full-time before his number came up in 2005.

Jennifer Stroud, Brad's wife, is our administrative assistant. She taught elementary school for 13 years but became frustrated with the administration policies that created little opportunity to teach. Teresa desperately needed help in the office, and Jennifer agreed to come help out. She has become an integral part of our team.
